No Niche Friday – Indigenous Flowers and Kite flying
I had the opportunity to get out into the desert today. Went into Bnaider where Kuwait’s most die-hard Kite enthusiasts fly a squadron of magnificent sea beasts. It was very War of the Worlds-y and as you may or may not know, I’m totally into that whole scene (check my bio at the bottom). You can see these beauties from the highway – and if you do, feel free to stop and relax for a bit. The kite fliers are a welcoming bunch and besides, the desert is practically awash with flowers at the moment.
I was very lucky to be educated on the local flora by a proper botanist who does research in this area. Take a look at the pics below – some of these have been resident in Kuwait far before most of us got here.

LOVE the giant squid kite .. looks like you had a nice time.
where is this?
Ravi – I totally did. Faisal you head to Bnaider on the 258 and if you’re there on a friday between 12-5 you’ll see the kites from the road. then you just turn in. I believe during Hala February that the kites will also be there on weekdays starting from the 17th.
