Not too long ago, we covered the official opening of the Kuwait Music Academy, a professional music school established to train, nurture and educate local students in music.  Earlier today, I received some amazing news from founder of the KMA , Fajer Al Mazidi. Three students from the KMA won first prizes and one won second prize in National Conservatory and Emirates Youth Symphony Orchestra’s (EYSO) GCC Music Competition held in Dubai.

Here is an excerpt from the feature news on the Arab Times:

On March 1-3, 2013 National Conservatory and Emirates Youth Symphony Orchestra (EYSO) in Dubai held GCC Music Competition. The event was held under patronage and with great support of the United Arab Emirates Ministry of Culture, Youth & Community Development and powerful Dubai Media City. The competition consisted from two stages and Final Concert with Prize Giving Awards. Almost 50 competitors, from all GCC countries of more than twenty origins, playing on different instruments entered at 8:00 a.m. on March 1, the Competition stage. They were competing in fourth age groups in front of international Jury from nine well known musicians from Italy, US, Belgium, Czech, Germany, Russia, Syria, Egypt and – UAE. The Chairman was Director and Conductor of Orchestra, Riad Kudsi – the Founder of Competition. Three of them represented Kuwait. They are all students of Kuwait Music Academy. They won three 1stPrizes and one 2nd Prize in their categories as follows. We are very proud to recognize their success as outstanding. Pianist Rania Saidi won with brilliant Chopin Minute Waltz 1st Prize on the 1st category (The Youngest).
In 2nd category (above 10 y.) the 1st Prize went to pianist Teji Wang for Beethoven Sonata in F Minor.
Teji Wang won also 1st Prize on Flute. The 2nd Prize in 3rd Category (over 15y) won Jason Chen (Chopin Revolutionary Study and Polonaise in C), recognized by audience as the best pianist of the Competition.

We are proud and happy to learn that the efforts of these young talents in Kuwait are paying off and that music talent from Kuwait is getting the recognition it deserves. Keep it up guys and we are with you all the way!
