Ok, I’ve watched these guys play a couple of times at a Karaoke joint up in Fahaheel, and I must say they are tiiiiigghhhhhttt. Everything from Journey to the Eagles and Dire Straits, this professional Philipino outfit is sure to live up to your expectations.

Here’s what they have to say about themselves:

The band was formed in early 2007 as The Flare Band.  It has participated in the first Kuwait Stock 2007 at the British Embassy.  For some reason, three of the original members left the band a month after Kuwait Stock.  The band recruited new members in the name of Augie on the Drums with Gally as the new Lead Vocals.  The new group now is call ‘SELDA 5C2′ and started playing together in November 2007. One might asked how Band’s name became SELDA 5C2.  Well it was very simple during our first Band rehearsal one of member asked what will be our band’s name.  Then we have a short brain-storming session and the group decided that since each band member uses a pseudo name of some famous outlaws (who were in prison cell during their time) then we will call our group SELDA (meaning prison cell) and since we held our practice in Apartment No. 5C2 then we will name our Band SELDA 5C2 (meaning Prison Cell 5C2). That is how we come up our Band’s name.

SELDA 5C2 plays variety of song genre. We play Classic Rock, Pop, Alternative, R & B, Blues, Reggae and some Instrumental Jazz.  Each band member has experienced playing with a live band during their University days back in the Philippines.  This has made easier for the group to rehearse their song line-up as the each member put in songs they played with the other band before.

Our first big break was in March 2008, when we play in-front of huge crowd for a fund raising event called ‘Tugtugan sa Kuwait (Concert in Kuwait) as the main performer organized by one of the Filipino Organization in Kuwait.  The second big break we had was in October 2009 when our band play as main performer for a Concert for a cause held in Royal Hall, Kuwait entitled ‘RockAbilty’.  Then it was followed with a lot of small gigs organized by different organizations.  The last big gig the band had was in July 2010 that was held in Kuwait Medical Association Main Hall.

SELDA 5C2 has a regular gig every first and last Friday of the month at Sky Zone, Fahaheel and we will soon to have a regular gig at the Applebee’s Mahboula and Sunrise Resto in Fahaheel.  The band has also started preparing original materials for their first Album planned to be recorded and release early next year.  We will having an upcoming concert on March 2011 the complete date and venue of which will poster later.  You can contact us at selda5c2.2007@gmail.com for booking or inquiry.
