Having trouble as a band with outreach to your fans? Struggling with building a strong fanbase? We’ve compiled a list of cool tips for you band promoters out there to skyrocket your band’s presence on Facebook.

1) Connect with other artists

Alright now that you’ve created your facebook fan page and have your 100 fans (90 of which are your friends and family), its important to “engage”. You probably hear that a lot from a lot of people , but what does it really mean? Befriend other bands, post on their walls, and link to their pages. Its important to build solidarity with similar bands and gain trust from their fans as well.

2) Be personal. Don’t always talk about yourself.

Just like a self righteous , self centered person in a conversation, your fans will feel it when you talk too much about yourself. Knowing what youre doing in the practice room, and the tons of events that are coming up are great, however maintaining a good balance between asking your fans about what they think is just as important.

3) Think beyond music.

Your fans enjoy your music. Yes. However, they probably enjoy learning weird things about what you do when youre not playing. Fans tend to look up to the bands they love. You need to be trend setters.

4) Interact with cool internet props

Dont just post a status message or a picture update. Make the extra effort to learn about facebook cms apps, FBML and other tools that let you use the full power of Facebook to your advantage.

5) Dont always ask. Give as well.

If youre the kind of band thats contantly using band camp, paypal or soundcloud to market your music, whether its $100 a track or $1, youre fans are eventually going to fizzle. Give away stuff sometimes, hold competitions on facebook, be creative.

6) Advertising.

There is no better way that to use Facebook insights research history and data and create a  Facebook ad campaign, to boost that fan base. Facebook impressions are usually highly targeted and designed to improve conversions.

If you run a successful facebook fan page, we’d love to hear some tips from you.
