5 tips to better promote your music to Kuwait’s audiences
Let’s face it. Kuwait audiences are not the kind of people that are going to get on up , take the initiative and go out looking for your music. Which is why, you will need to go to them.
With the plethora of technology and platforms available, it is easier to do this today than it was 8 years ago. Nevertheless, as you will see, maintaining a fine balance between the application of technology and building offline relationships, is key.
5) Decide who you want to target and go after them
Many musicians in Kuwait make the mistake of not taking the time to learn who their audiences are. You can’t just play to “everyone”. Unless you’re music is akin to toilet paper, you’re not going anywhere. Even the mighty Beatles weren’t loved by everyone.

A great way to do this is by “seeding”. What is seeding? Seeing is a pyramid building tactic where you identify 4 – 5 of your hardcore fans. People that REALLY love and enjoy listening to you play. Get to know their friends who share similar interests and network with them on their Facebook pages, their events, their gatherings, and their online activity. It sounds like a mammoth task but can be easily achieved once you get the ball rolling. Very soon you’ll realize you have a decent fan base you can rely on to attend your shows, events and gigs. I don’t know about you, but I’d rather have 20 people cheering me on and really enjoying my music than having 300 people dulled out watching me play.
4) Use the platforms you have been blessed with
I keep beating the horse on this one, but I can’t stress on how important it is to use today’s technology and channels. Create a Facebook page, a YouTube channel, send us these links and we’ll promote for you on Kuwait Music. Create viral traffic by using stumble upon. Create a blog. It’s free. The possibilities are endless. If you don’t have the time for all of this, just send us your profile and we’ll promote it all for you!

3) Maintain a daily “Publicity” To-do list
To – do lists are awesome. They help maintain structure and focus and allow to you continually deliver important tasks on a regular basis.
You’re to do list should typically include the following items:
- Create scheduled Facebook Page posts (mix it up between images , links and status messages)
- Publish at least 2 blog posts
- Search for event organizers in Kuwait and contact them for opportunities, however they may come.
- Comment on Blogs like Kuwait- Music.com and grapevineKuwait.com and share your links in the comments section. Backlinks are great to generate organic publicity.
- Tweet about your band/ music activity at least twice a day.

2) Design and define your brand as a band
I can’t begin to stress upon how important this is. Get your name out there. Make up some stickers, badges, posters, lighters , a logo, or anything else you can think of that include your band’s name. Then, drop the stuff anywhere you legally can. Pass them out at your favorite cafes in Salmiya, leave them on the café table, – go for it. Soon, your name will be familiar to people even if they don’t know why, and when they see your name on Kuwait Music, Youtube, a magazine, etc.., they’ll think “hey…I know that name, I wonder what that’s all about..?” That’s what good branding is all about.

1) Play amazing music
There is no better way to promote your music than by making amazing music. Whether you are a cover band or perform originals, your music is what defines you. Watch Youtube videos, learn vocal techniques, study rythym, understand sound and quality of mastering, pick up stage presence techniques, but most of all- get feedback and input from your peers. Do your homework, and the rest will fall in place.
